Starting Point: Solang Village
The trail begins from Solang Village, about 14 kilometers from Manali. You can easily reach Solang by taxi or shared vehicle. From here, the hike kicks off with a gentle walk through dense forests of oak and pine. The initial stretch is shaded and peaceful, with birdsong and the scent of pine all around.
Through Forests and Meadows
As you continue, the trail begins to ascend gradually, becoming steeper with every turn. After a few kilometers, the forest opens into vast alpine meadows, especially lush during spring and monsoon. These grasslands are perfect rest spots, offering early glimpses of Hanuman Tibba and the Beas Kund valley.
Final Ascent and Summit View
The final stretch is the most challenging part. It involves a steep climb over rocky terrain, requiring a good level of fitness. However, once you reach the summit of Patalsu Peak, the effort pays off spectacularly. On a clear day, you can witness panoramic views of Deo Tibba, Friendship Peak, Hanuman Tibba, and the majestic Dhauladhar range. The Solang Valley lies beneath, and the winding Beas River glistens far below.
